Coffee & Roasters
Coffee oxidizes quickly: the roasted aroma and flavor begin to deteriorate as soon as air comes into contact with the ground coffee. The OecoPac membrane canister addresses this problem with an effective barrier against oxygen, aroma loss, and moisture. It protects coffee significantly better than unprotected paper or bag packaging. A degassing valve can be integrated upon special request—an important option for freshly roasted coffee, which continues to release CO2 after roasting. For roasteries and coffee brands testing new varieties, OecoPac produces as few as 1 unit—even in small batches—with no minimum order quantity and no high entry barriers.
Spices & Herbs
Spices place special demands on packaging. Dried herbs quickly lose their aroma when exposed to moisture, while essential oils from spices such as cinnamon or star anise place special demands on the packaging material. The membrane canister protects against moisture and oxygen with a suitable barrier, thereby preserving the aroma and product properties. At the same time, the packaging can help prevent unwanted migration between the contents and the packaging material. With a shaker insert, a pour-top lid, or a cardboard twist-top shaker closure, the can functions directly as a dispenser. For regional spice producers and artisanal manufacturers, production is possible starting with small batches of 1.
Pharmaceuticals & Dietary Supplements
Packaging for dietary supplements, vitamins, and pharmaceuticals is subject to strict requirements. Food safety and the appropriate choice of materials are key prerequisites; for suitable applications, OecoPac provides a declaration of conformity in accordance with EU Regulation 1935/2004 upon request. The tamper-evident closure on the membrane jar serves as a tamper-evident feature and signals to the consumer that the product is unopened, undamaged, and has not been tampered with. The barrier layer protects capsules, powders, and granules from moisture ingress, which can cause degradation of the active ingredient or clumping. Custom printing and small-batch production are available for pharmacy private labels, dietary supplement startups, and pharmaceutical fillers.
Tea & Herbal Tea
Tea is sensitive to odors and moisture. Herbs, green tea, and fruit blends absorb foreign odors quickly and release their own aroma just as quickly. The membrane container reduces both risks: the release of aroma to the outside and the absorption of odors from the outside. For tea brands, the option of FSC-certified cardboard is particularly relevant because it visibly supports sustainability and resource conservation. At the point of sale, the round, fully printed can clearly sets the tea apart from tea bags and folding boxes. Producible starting with a small batch of 1—ideal for new tea lines with no minimum order quantity.
Cocoa & Baking Mixes
Cocoa powder and baking mixes are hygroscopic products and are particularly sensitive to humidity. Clumping, loss of flavor, and deterioration in quality can occur even with minimal moisture exposure. For particularly sensitive products, the can can be equipped with a customized barrier that reduces moisture and oxygen. The membrane can is suitable for manufacturers with high standards for product protection and flavor retention, such as those producing fine cocoa or high-quality baking mixes. The specific design is selected based on the contents. Both variants—the combination can and the membrane can—can be manufactured to be food-safe, are customizable with printing, and can be ordered starting with a minimum order quantity of 1.
Startups & Product Development
New products need packaging—often as early as the first market test, long before the decision to go into mass production is made. OecoPac produces membrane tins and other cardboard tins starting with small runs of just one piece. This eliminates minimum order requirements, unnecessary inventory risk, and high capital tied up in product variants that are still being tested. Startups, artisan food producers, and product developers receive not only the right container from OecoPac, but also advice on material selection, closure types, and food safety compliance. From the first packaging prototype to scalable mass production, OecoPac supports the entire process with no barriers to entry.
